Sybil is Ethel's sister and begins her first year as a timid girl with a very patient best friend. No one can quite believe the difference between her and her sister. Sybil bursts into tears over the silliest things like getting splattered with mud. Some things are more serious though, like Ethel's warning about Mildred Hubble being the leader of a gang that goes around casting foul spells on the first years.

It doesn't take Sybil long to figure out that Mildred isn't evil, especially when she saves her from a threatening situation. She actually toughens up and comes into her own as a witch, when the fate of Cackle's Academy is in danger. Her moment of glory gives her the confidence she needs to make school life bearable. She would prefer to read magazines and play video games, but all Hallows must become witches.
