Miss Constance Hardbroom is the form-mistress, a task which she takes very seriously. She is very, very strict and even though she is not in charge of the Academy, her watchful eye is one to watch out for. She is feared and obeyed by the all the girls, and makes herself heard by yelling very loudly.
H.B. is a militant traditionalist. She believes education should be taught with the goal of becoming responsible grown-up witches. She is against the aid of any technology, and confiscates radios and walkmens when she sees them. Arguments often flare up between she and Miss Bat, over teaching methods which are totally different.
Miss Hardbroom has many unique abilities, the most important being that she can appear and disappear at will. This is especially frustrating for Mildred who is always getting into trouble. It seems that H.B. always catches her when she's doing something she isn't supposed to be doing..!
