Everything always goes right for Ethel; she's at the top of her class, her spells and potions always produce perfect results and she does extra chanting because she's so keen. The teacher's pet is also mean and spiteful, holds grudges and walks around with her nose in the air.
Ethel's parents are rich and proud; her father is the Chair of the School Govenors and buys her expensive presents which she loves to show off. She comes from a family of witches, and has a fancy Slozzinger-Hazeltwig broom.
Ethel is a sneak, as well as a snob. She tattles on Mildred, and is always trying to get her into trouble. Ethel is expected to do well like the rest of her family, who have their portraits in the Great Hall. Ethel's witch-in-crime is Drusilla Paddock.
