Pills

Chemicals are Mobworld people's engines. Modern pharmaceuticals have reached the peak of excellence. They enable users to perform feats that nobody though possible a couple of decades ago.
Most Mobworlders take pills or other forms of chemicals to enhance their abilities, or to get high. This is nothing new, people have always done that. What's new, however, is the price of those chemicals. They're cheap.
The Mobworld foil does not have any hard-and-fast rules for drug creation. We think that such rules or do-it-yourself kits limit your imagination. There are some rules of thumb which might help you when coming up with new devious substances .

0) What names does the drug have? Where does it come from?

1) What primary effects does the drug have? These are those effects that useres desire to get. Here some examples: Accelerator (enhances speed and reaction), Analgesic (a downer), Antidote (works against poison), Aphrodisiac (enhances sex drive), Concentrator (raises intelligence), Contraceptive (reduces the chance of getting pregnant), Endurance (duh), Euphoric, Hypnotic (user will have a hard time resisting suggestions), Psychedelic (oh! look at these funny colors!), Sedative (calms you down), Soporific (makes you tired), Speedheal (heal a lot faster), Stabilizer (gives you a second chance)

2) What side effects does the drug have? These are those effects that come with the primary effects, but which are undesired. Examples: Aggression, Alienation, Analgesic, Anxiousness, Black Out, Blank (user can become catatonic), Clouded Thinking, Convulsions, Death, Delusions, Disorientation, Drowsiness, Egotism, Hallucinations, Immiscible with other drugs, Physical Reaction (vomiting or other), Obsession, Paralysis, Paranoia, Poisonous, Sensitivity, Time Distortion (user loses sense of time)

3) What after effects does it have? These are those effetcts that set in after the primary and side effects have worn off. Examples: Aggression,
Alienation, Analgesic, Anxiousness, Black Out, Blank (user can become catatonic), Clouded Thinking, Convulsions, Death, Delusions, Disorientation, Drowsiness, Egotism, Hallucinations, Immiscible with other drugs, Physical Reaction (vomiting or other), Obsession, Paralysis, Paranoia, Poisonous, Sensitivity, Time Distortion (user loses sense of time)

4) What cumulative effects does the drug have? These are those effects that occur over a prolonged drug abuse. Examples: Addiction, Aggression,
Alienation, Analgesic, Anxiousness, Black Out, Blank (user can become catatonic), Clouded Thinking, Convulsions, Death, Delusions, Disorientation, Drowsiness, Egotism, Flashbacks, Hallucinations, Immiscible with other drugs, Nerve Degeneration, Physical Reaction (vomiting or other), Obsession, Paralysis, Paranoia, Poisonous, Sensitivity, Time Distortion (user loses sense of time), Tolerance (the user needs more to get the desired effect)

5) Think about the drug's onset time. This is the time after which the drug effects set in. It can range from months (like some African ritual magic drugs) to a second.

6) How long does the drug last? There are even drugs that last for a couple of days!

7) How easily can the drug be detected after the user has taken it? Think about marijuana - you can see it from a mile's distance that someone has smoked shit. On the other side, there are military drugs that can't be detetced this easily.

8) What format / smell / taste does the drug have? Can it be ingested (pill, paper tab, liquid, powder, etc), or do you have to inject it?

9) After all these considerations, think about the price for a batch. Remember, the more effective and quicker and long-lasting and subtle a drug is, the more it costs. Is it a prototype, or is it concocted in a small cellar lab? Maybe it's mass-produced? The more batches are around, the cheaper is the drug.

Kal'al
also called: Klown, Brainfuck
A traditional West African tribal drug, used for magical initiation rituals

Primary Effects:
The user experiences a significant increase in speed and reaction time. His endurance is roughly doubled, enabling even untrained average human beings to perform a ten-mile run without being exhausted. The user becomes highly euphoric, and experiences bursts of laughter. Some users report psychedelic qualities, while others don't.

Side Effects: At the same time, the user is disabled to think straight. He experiences a very strong disorientation (even people with excellent orientational abilities are affected). All users lose their sense of time while on Kal'al.
After Effects: After the Kal'al high, there's a good chance for the average human being to become unconscious. Even worse, 30 percent of all users become catatonic. Still, the "clouded thinking" effect lasts for about two hours, and in 70 percent of all cases, Kal'al useres won't find the way to the next door without help.
Cumulative Effects: Kal'al is mildly psychologically addictive. Users will experience flashbacks, and hallucinations are quite common. Far worse is the following nerve degeneration (which occurs in 20 percent of all cases) that can completely wreck a heavy Kal'al user, or anyone who overdoses it.
Onset Time: 10 seconds
Duration: one hour
Detection: Kal'al smells like fresh lemons. This smell is very intense and can be detected easily, even if the drug has been taken two days ago.
Format: Outside Africa, Kal'al is delivered in a small glass vial (5 cm tall). In Africa, it's served in on an earthen platter. It's a bright green, sticky liquid that tastes like orange bubblegum.
Price for a batch: People with wealth level of A ROOM WITH A VIEW or higher can take Kal'al a few times per month.
