This is the plan for a true hard-science science-fiction role-playing campaign. It is a space exploration campaign, set among a society of several thousand humans who have taken it on themselves to explore and colonize the stars. There is no FTL travel, however. Instead, they live on a synchronized schedule of 1 active day per year of cold sleep. The game is set about 30 experienced years into their expedition (i.e. almost 11,000 years of real time).
Starbound at this point is really a background setting -- It is the stage on which stories are told, rather than a scenario for adventure in itself. See my design notes below for some possible campaign directions.
