GURPS: OZ ========= In which is presented several of the characters from several of the books for use in GURPS gaming scenarios. Please note that these are first drafts only, and omit descriptions for the purpose of brevity. These files are based on an earlier work, but unfortunately, I have lost the name and e-mail address of the person responsible. Anyone interested in further discussion of any of these characters (or others) is welcome to e-mail: tmp_harkins@dirac.physics.jmu.edu "Mr. B.". =============================================================== NEW RULES ========= New Advantages: =============== Unquenchable Essence (Variable) ------------------------------- A character with this advantage is an animated version of something that is ordinarily inanimate, and cannot be "killed". However, the material is damaged in the same way as a normal version of that material, and the character is inconvenienced by "injuries" in the same way as a person. For example, the Scarecrow wasn't killed when the Jackdaws picked away all of his straw, but he was inconvenienced by it though! Reducing the character to 0 hit points renders them helpless, but not unconscious or dead. A drawback to this advantage is that the character must be repaired, rather than by the normal method of healing. A significant part of the original material must be present, treat repairs as repairing a piece of equipment, under the appropriate skill (Blacksmith for a tin being, Woodworking for one of wood, etc.) If the character is chopped into extremely small pieces (reduced to -10xHT) they are considered "dead" - but could still be repaired if enough of the original material could be gathered together. This advantage comes in four levels. 50 points: The character is made of a fragile and easily broken material, such as the China People from _Wizard_. Crushing attacks get a +2 to damage! 75 points: The character is made of a material which is hard and can be damaged, but is not especially vunerable or invunerable. Examples include Jack Pumpkinhead's body or the Sawhorse. No bonuses or penalties. 100 points: The character is made of a soft, pliable material, such as the Scarecrow. -3 to damage from crushing attacks, but +1 to impaling attacks. 125 points: The character is made of a hard, rigid, material, such as the Tin Woodman or the Tin Soldier. +5 DR against all attacks. Modifiers: needs specilized parts -10%, can't easily repair self -10%, can only be repaired by someone with a very specilized skill -10%, needs extremely rare parts -30%. --------------------------------------------------------------- Painless (15 points) -------------------- The character feels no pain from any damage. They are never at a shock penalty from wounds in combat, and cannot be tortured through pain. No Will roll is required to resist pain. This more extreme version of High Pain Threshold is recommended only for characters with the Unquenchable Essence advantage, who can take this sort of punishment. =============================================================== CHARACTERS ========== Dorothy Gale ------------ (75 points) Attributes: ----------- ST: 6 (-30) IQ: 7 (-20) DX: 6 (-30) HT: 7 (-20) Move: 3 Speed: 3.25 Advantages: ----------- Common Sense (+10) Reputation (in Oz) +4 (+10) Luck - I'd like to try to add some of the other major figures in the Baum books (at least) - most notably the Wizard, the Sawhorse, any of the Wicked Witches, the Nome King, the Shaggy Man, and the Hungry Tiger. I'd also like to do Em and Henry, even if only for use as DNPC's for Dorothy. Oz would be (IMHO) a wonderful place to begin new younger role players in, due to the fact that a successful campaign would have to be problem-solving based rather than the typical hack-n-slash or Monty Haul campaign. Anyone wishing to work with me on these characters is welcome to e-mail me. In addition, I'd like to write up some of the typical magic items (and some of the -a-typical ones) also. Anyone interested in working futher on this project with me is welcome to e-mail me. Now that I've finally gotten the majority of the GURPS: Star Trek conversion/crossover out on the net, I'd like to turn some of my attention over to this. Anyone wishing to see my previous work can use the WWW to contact Steve Jackson Games at: http://io.com/io/ and go to the GURPS page and then look for the GURPS: Star Trek files by "Mr. B." (that's me :^). Of course, they could never be -official- but, hey, why not? --------------------------------------------------------------- "Mr. B." | "You Don't Know How It Feels . . .
