Now on to the difficulties: 1) The Mnemonics roll has a difficulty of Knowledge Level + Substance, with some additional modifiers. Knowledge: 0 Object Talent: knows everything humanly possible about the target 5 Familiar/Well Known: a casual friend, a old servant, a household object (has interacted with for a long period of time) 10 Detailed: a good briefing on the target, and has had significant interaction with it. 15 Basics: has interacted with the target for a short time, or has observed it for a long time, and has some additional information 20 Just perceived: a cursory inspection, and nothing more Perception Modifiers: +0 Target is in close sight +1-+3 Distantly or indirectly seen +3 Not seen but heard or felt +5 Not perceived at all Maintenance Modifiers: -2 Maintain mnemonic for only half-turn (as in Gesture binding) +0 One turn (Words binding) +2 Two turns (Runic binding) +2 per each additional turn Distractions: +5 Invoking two mnemonics at once (i.e. Transformations) (Note: this applies to *both* rolls) Later on I might post about 'wounding' the knowledge rating by using skills. Basically, an information-gathering skill roll gets translated into a number of points which the Knowledge rating gets decreased by. (Something like (Roll / 5), as I recall, and each attempt takes twice as long as the last.) ---------- 2) The Formulation and Binding roll difficulties are different for each type of effect. Note: these are not particularly well defined, so you will have to use a fair amount of GM judgement in these calls. In general, the Formulation roll will vary closely around a fixed difficulty, while the Complexity will vary alot from Binding to Binding. a) Commands: Formulation: 6 Linear: controlling individual muscles, plants, etc. 9 Simple actions: controlling legs, arms, etc. 12 Full control: whole body commands 14 Subtleties: voice, facial expressions, etc. Complexity: 6 Single word, simple command 9 Simple restrictions: 12 Short phrase commands, including some subjective concepts 15 18 Programmed actions: including a variety of conditions 21 ----------------- b) Charms: Formulation: Minor Beliefs Complexity: ----------------- c) Hexes: Formulation: Repulsion/Adhesion Weight Complexity: ----------------- d) Transcience: Formulation: Healing Wounding Complexity: ----------------- e) Transformation: Formulation: Basic: Chimerical: transforming parts without integrating Integrated: Fitted/usable talons, areas of knowledge/skill, etc. Melding: can select traits, abilities, and skills Complexity: ----------------- f) Sidestepping: Formulation: Complexity:
