Dawn of Fire: Design Notes

I originally conceived of this campaign in 2005 as an example of what I might do with D&D. My core concept was that I wanted to leave all the core action nearly untouched. There would be adventurers of all the standard races and classes, and I could use dungeon modules and miniatures as written. However, I also wanted the action and role-playing to be more interesting. The post-apocalyptic setup which I came up with reverses many of the usual assumptions. Below are posts where I came up with the different ideas.

Breaking Down D&D (Oct 12, 2005)
My original post about the concept.
Characterization and System (Oct 17, 2005)
Notes on how system interacts with characterization.
Post-Apocalyptic D&D... now with more Dragons (Jan 9, 2006)
My Hârn group suggests dragons as the apocalyptic monsters. The idea immediately grabs me.
On "Reign of Fire" (Jan 12, 2006)
I watch the near-future apocalypse-of-dragons movie, which is cheesy but has a premise quite similar to my own.
NPCs in Post-Apocalyptic D&D (Jan 13, 2006)
Thoughts on how to create the other survivor NPCs.
Player Input in Post-Apocalyptic D&D (Jan 20, 2006)
My thoughts on the general degree and type of player input on the game.
